Looking for repurposed denim streetwear that's both stylish and eco-conscious? Well, that's what boroboro, does nicely, we really hope you agree.

Transformation

With a focus on reducing textile waste, boroboro repurposes vintage and non-vintage denim from brands like Levi's, Lee and Wranglers, transforming them into unique, sustainable pieces. And now, with theboroboro.com it's easier than ever to shop their one of a kind collections.

Search and Rescue

Not only does boroboro search and find a wide range of denim items that people no longer want such as high-waisted jeans, denim shorts, and jackets, but we also unpick all those flat felled seams if needed, so we can brag that sustainability is part of our production process. By using vintage and non-vintage pieces and any clothing that would otherwise go to waste, boroboro reduces the amount of water, energy, and chemicals used in traditional clothing manufacturing. That doesn't mean we don't clean it but have you seen the amount of water used in new denim manufacturing?! So we, like many others are contributing to saving the amount of chemicals being dumped into the streams and oceans of our world.

No Bad Fabric

And it's not just repurposed denim that boroboro uses. We also rework Nike and other branded clothing. This has become a very popular thing to remake but maybe isn't quite hitting mainstream yet. Unusually corduroy reworks are lovely to work with as it is a very obedient fabric. We know that any cotton material is a great sustainable option. Again, manufacturing new cotton does use a ridiculous amount of water. As polyester and man-made fibres are getting a bad eco reputation we do try and use it! I know it sounds backwards but it is there and we would rather extend its life as a wearable item than as a thrown away item. So we can honestly say all those branded hoodies, sweatshirts, and coats hold a lot of fabric and is doing a valuable service of holding on to the non-branded bits of fabric. Soon we will add accessories, all made from repurposed and recycled fabrics too.

Textile Boredom

And if you need more evidence of the impact of textile boredom, consider this: the fashion industry is responsible for 92 million tons of textile waste each year. I am sure you have heard that figure before but have you tried to picture it?

Visualising 92 million tons of textile waste is quite staggering. To try and put it into perspective, imagine a mountain range made up entirely of discarded clothing and textiles. This mountain range would span over 20,000 football fields and tower over 7,000 feet tall. And to make matters worse, this mountain range continues to grow every year, with no end in sight. It's a daunting image, but it illustrates the gravity of the textile waste problem and the urgent need for more sustainable textile practices.

Our textile saving journey may be a tiny little drop in the ocean and your choice may be another little drop but choosing sustainable clothing brands like boroboro is a creative choice.

Long Live our clothes!
